~Welcome to my Society For Creative Anachronism information pages. These pages are intended only as preliminary information for persons new to and/or curious about the S.C.A. and does not delineate any legal connection to the S.C.A. in any fashion, as this is not an official S.C.A. site and as I am only a humble servant of my fellow SCAdians. All information contained herein is merely information collected (from various sources) throughout my travels in the S.C.A. and imparted here as an aid to ease one's introduction to S.C.A. life.

What is the S.C.A.?

~or~

"Why are you wearing those funny clothes? Are you in a play or something?"

The SCA, or Society For Creative Anachronism... (not to be confused with "anarchists", those are the political rowdies,  nor are we the "anti-christs", so you can calm down now Mom), ...is a non-profit social, educational and historical group dedicated to the study and re-creation of the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods of history, as we like to think that should have been. The S.C.A. period encompasses the period from 600-1600AD in Western Europe, although many people also include other civilizations as well, such as Asia and the Middle East, and some may stretch the period to include 450-1650AD.

We research and re-create everything from the dress/costume (or "Garb" as we prefer to call it), the arts (ie: embroidery, painting, music etc), to the weaponry, armor and combat of the times. But more than research and practice, the SCA also attempts to embody those lost ideals that are found in Medieval romances:  Chivalry, Courtesy, Honour, and Graciousness.

Yes, we have Knights and Kings and Queens.
No, we don't have Dragons and Faeries.

This is not Fantasy Land. This is learning about "Ye Olden Days".
